Teresa Cook - 1st Vice President
I don’t have any ‘political’ experience. I was an Air Traffic Controller for almost 30 years. I married my high school sweetheart and we raised our family together. I’m just doing what I can to make the world a better place for my grandchildren.
Although I’ve never held any sort of positions, we worked hard to get President Regan elected, talking to everyone we knew, knocking on doors, handing out flyers and I’ve been doing that ever since.
We need those high achieving superstars! But even more, we need people who are willing to roll up their sleeves and help in small ways. This organization can help you with that! We will encourage you every step of the way. The best thing you can do is to be proud that you’re a Republican and know how to tell others why in an inviting way.

One week before her graduation, she married John Oxton after dating him for 5 years.
Tricia’s first jobs out of college were in marketing. First, she was employed as the Division Marketing Manager for Encyclopedia Britannica designing and implementing educational promotions in shopping malls and at the State Fair of Texas, Next, she worked as a Marketing Director / Assistant Manager for a Dallas shopping mall. In 1986, she had her first child- Sarah Beth. In 1988, John, Tricia and Sarah moved to East Texas where John accepted employment at Texas Die Casting, a manufacturing plant owned by Tricia’s family. John subsequently became Vice President of Administration at the company. Tricia became a member of the marketing team at Good Shepherd Medical Center where she created and implemented Classicare- an outreach program for senior adults. In November of 1989, Tricia went to work in her family’s business and subsequently served as Vice President of Human Resources and Safety. She enjoyed designing employee benefit programs, purchasing all insurance coverages, counseling employees, interviewing and onboarding new employees, training the management team, writing company policies and much more. The company employed 180 employees at its largest. Tricia and John enjoyed working together with a wonderful team of employees. The family eventually sold the company in 2007.
In 1990, they had their second child – Tyler David. Tricia was diagnosed with degenerative disc disease in 1992 and led her to become disabled in 2002. She was very disheartened at first but soon grew to love having more time to spend with her children and family. She has continued to take life day by day and always kept moving forward. She is very blessed to have six delightful grandchildren who bring immense joy to her life.
Since the 2020 Election, Tricia has been conducting research about our election system and stays up to date on all things political. She has seen proof that the 2020 Election was riddled with maladministration and malfeasance which affected the outcome of the election. While doing research online was good, she decided to get involved locally. In January 2021, she joined the Republican Women of Gregg County and has served as 2nd Vice President – Membership for the last couple of years. She believes that RWGC makes a real difference in informing its members and involving and serving the community with our programs and projects. She has also been pleased to make like-minded friends as a result of her membership in RWGC.
